Letter from the Head of School
Leaving my traditional teaching position to create a microschool was a decision born out of my unwavering passion for education, and deep desire to make a genuine impact on students’ lives. The conventional school setting, with its rigid structures and standardized curricula, often left me feeling restrained, unable to fully cater to the individual needs and unique learning styles of my students. I yearned for a more personalized approach and that is what drove me to create Montessori Schoolhouse.
At Montessori Schoolhouse, I could finally embrace innovative teaching methods that I had always wanted to explore. The flexibility and autonomy allowed me to design a curriculum that truly catered to each student, fostering an environment where they could thrive academically and personally. With a smaller student population, I could build deeper connections with each student and collaborate closely with their parents, creating a supportive and engaged learning atmosphere.
Moreover, the microschool offers a unique opportunity to address specific needs within my community. I could focus on my passion for STEM education, and cater to students with particular interests in science and technology. Witnessing their enthusiasm and growth in a subject that I deeply cared about has been immensely fulfilling.
Beyond that, starting the microschool allowed me to embrace my entreprenurial spirit. It was not just about being a teacher anymore; I had to delve into business aspects, marketing, and school management.
Leaving behind the bureaucratic obstacles and focusing on what truly mattered- my love for teaching and my students’ development- reginited the spark of job satisfaction that I had been craving for years.
In the end, creating a microschool and leaving my traditional teaching position was one of the most transformative and rewarding decisions I have ever made. I now have the freedom to make a real difference in the lives of my students, shaping their futures and fostering a love for learning that will stay with them throughout their lives.
